Entrepreneurial PIHMS Graduates Have Big Plans for 2010

Two of 2009s Pacific International Hotel Management Schools graduating degree students have big plans for after graduation, but they dont involve finding employment.

Josh Waitere-Ang and Alex Jenkinson and a third yet to be named PIHMS graduate are setting up their own company aimed at providing destination management services to those working in the tourism and hospitality industry. It is intended that the business will have four strands to itmarket research, on-line reservations, a loyalty card for tourism and hospitality workers and information distribution.

Josh says he came up with the original idea while studying for exams in Semester 5 and then spent 6 months carrying out some initial market research in Queenstown. He says he decided to come back to PIHMS for the 6-month degree extension in part to develop his business ideas further. Josh and Alex now have a name for their company Tourism & Hospitality Cards a logo and numerous business, financial, human resources and marketing plans.

Josh and the two other company directors will be basing themselves in Palmerston North for the next 9 months to further develop their companys strategies and services. They plan to have some aspects of their business operational in Queenstown by January 2011. In addition, they have already been contracted to carry out some market research on destinations for the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism New Zealand.
