NZMA and MIT Partner for the Future

An exciting future awaits students considering the plumbing and gasfitting field, with a unique partnership announced between NZMA and MIT. Students will now have the opportunity to enrol in a new programme, the MIT Certificate in Plumbing and Gasfitting Level 3, which will be delivered by NZMA at MIT’s Māngere campus from May 2017.  Upon successful completion of the 30-week programme, graduates will have the option of pathwaying into MIT’s New Zealand Certificates or National Certificate programmes.

Students will benefit greatly by learning from fully qualified, industry experienced tutors who are able to provide them with a good balance of theory, as well as the hands-on experience required to be work-ready.  Practical experience in all aspects of plumbing will be provided in modern, purpose-built facilities, which also include simulation areas.  Gasfitting skills will be honed in the interactive lab on campus at Māngere.

According to NZMA’s Regional Manager for Trades, Monique Le Marque, it makes sense to create synergies such as this to deliver programmes which ensure students gain much sought after skills and qualifications that lead to sustainable employment outcomes in Auckland’s high demand trades industry.

Monique says, “Our partnership with MIT, sees us share tutor knowledge and expertise as well as the state of the art physical resources that the campus provides”.

The partnership will be the first step in a long term, mutually beneficial relationship between the two providers.
