Whitecliffe is proud to announce the approval of a new three-year BFA degree and a one-year BFA (Honours). Starting in 2017, all students enrolling to begin their studies at Whitecliffe in Fine Arts, Photo Media, Fashion Design or Graphic Design within the Bachelor of Fine Arts will be enrolled in a three-year programme. A four-year journey will see successful students graduating with a postgraduate Honours degree in 2020 and beyond.

Palmerston North's first Tertiary Knock Out competition was held recently in The Square with UCOL, Massey, Te Wananga o Aotearoa and IPU New Zealand all participating. About 50 people attended the event, which resulted in a tie for first between Massey and IPU New Zealand.

International Travel College (ITC) is giving away 20 scholarships to celebrate its 20th birthday and to help 20 motivated individuals gain a qualification in airline, travel or tourism. Scholarships range between $1,000 and $5,000 NZD and will be awarded to applicants who can demonstrate outstanding enthusiasm for the industry.

Quality Tertiary Institutions (Nga Wananga Kounga), a key private tertiary education sector peak body, has welcomed the Productivity Commission’s draft report into new models of tertiary which it called “thoughtful and bold.” QTI strongly supports the proposed move to a more genuinely market-based tertiary education system with a strong focus on students. The report also comprehensively challenges official claims that the current system is ‘high trust/high accountability’ and ‘low compliance’ – in fact, the Commission described Government control as “high-level”, “pervasive” and “stifling innovation.”

Unity Technologies has partnered with Media Design School to offer one aspiring game developer a scholarship that will provide them with the opportunity to study game development at the number one ranked 3D animation, visual effects and game school in the Asia Pacific region.
