Foreign students studying in New Zealand have been targeted in a series of recent comments from Labour leader Andrew Little, NZ First leader Winston Peters and the Tertiary Education Union (TEU). QTI believes those criticisms miss the mark by massively underestimating the benefits of international education to the country and to the individual students.

An exciting future awaits students considering the plumbing and gasfitting field, with a unique partnership announced between NZMA and MIT. Students will now have the opportunity to enrol in a new programme, the MIT Certificate in Plumbing and Gasfitting Level 3, which will be delivered by NZMA at MIT’s Māngere campus from May 2017. Upon successful completion of the 30-week programme, graduates will have the option of pathwaying into MIT’s New Zealand Certificates or National Certificate programmes.

Digital effects artist, and former TLC art student (and staff member), Sarah de Schot, has reached the pinnacle of what would be any special effect artist’s dream – winning an Oscar. She was part of a team at visual effects company Double Negative, which won an Oscar and a Bafta award for their work on the Christopher Nolan sci-fi movie, Interstellar, in 2014.
