New Business Diplomas Offer International Opportunities Friday February 26, 2010
New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) School of Business and Hospitality Management now delivers world-class business qualifications recognised by universities and employers across Australia, America and the UK.

They have recently teamed up with Edexcel in the UK, a leading global education service provider that offers internationally recognised academic and vocational qualifications. Thanks to the collaboration, international students at NZMA's Auckland Central Academy can now do a one-year level 5 Diploma in Business or a two-year level 6 Diploma in Business (Advanced) - both of which will be recognised all around the globe.

"These new qualifications will open up a world of opportunities for our business students," says NZMA's Director of New Business and Product Development, Mark Worsop.

"They will now be able to graduate with dual business qualifications, one accredited by Edexcel in the UK and the other accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.  This will help them enormously with employment in the international business arena and will also provide them with very clear and direct pathways to degree level qualifications, should they choose to go on to further study."

The new Edexcel accredited qualifications are based on the world-respected Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) vocational qualifications.  They offer the Higher National Certificate in Business and the Higher National Diploma in Business (the equivalent of New Zealand's level 5 and 6).

The level 5 Diploma gives students a good grounding in core business modules, such as the legal environment of business, marketing, management and finance.  Those who go on to level 6 can choose to major in management, marketing, finance, information technology or e-business strategies.  As well as being able to choose different majors in the second year, students can add in different modules - such as project management or Microsoft Office - which are specifically relevant to the career they want to pursue.

Level 6 students will also have an opportunity to develop first-hand experience of working in New Zealand with a relevant organisation through a paid internship.  NZMA's Redfish Employment Specialists will help students secure appropriate internships.

"The beauty of the new course is that it is well-recognised internationally and it is also highly flexible so students can tailor their study to suit their own personal career goals."
